Team China imposes itself in Beijing at the second meet of the FINA/CNSG Diving World Series 2019

Team China excelled at the second meet of the FINA/CNSG Diving World Series 2019 in Beijing (CHN) which was staged at the Olympic venue, the Water Cube, from Thursday March 7-Saturday March 9.
The home squad claimed the top honours in every single event of the leg, and grabbed ten gold medals in total.
Cao Yuan was the best in the men’s 3m springboard with 541.95 points, while Yang Jian claimed gold in the 10m platform. Both silver medals at stake in those two events were also secured by Chinese divers with Xie Siyi (3m, 527.90) and Chen Aisen (10m, 527.65). Jack Laugher (GBR) then took the bronze in the 3m (457.55), while Aleksandr Bondar (RUS) closed the platform event’s podium with 509.95.
Still in the individual events, Wang Han (377.40) and Shi Tingmao (367.00) dominated the 3m in this order and Canada’s Jennifer Abel clinched bronze with 332.70. Zhang Jiaqi (gold, 400.05) and Ren Qien (silver, 371.20) gave no chance to their opponents in the platform final as Meaghan Benfeito (CAN, 336.40) won the bronze.
Mexico’s pair Jahir Ocampo / Rommel Pacheco (MEX, 413.61) narrowly stole the silver up for grabs in the men’s 3m synchro, just behind China’s Cao Yuan / Xie Siyi (469.08) and Philipe Gagne / Francois Imbeau-Dulac (CAN, 399.48) came third.
Chen Aisen / Cao Yuan (CHN, 494.55) defeated the Russian pair Aleksandr Bondar / Viktor Minibaev (425.67) and the Australians Domonic Bedgoog / Declan Stacey (411.00) in the men’s 10m synchro.
In the women’s synchronised events, Olympians and veterans Wang Han / Shi Tingmao accumulated the most points in the 3m (399.30), while Australia’s Anabelle Smith / Maddison Keeney claimed silver (300.93) and Great Britain’s Grace Reid / Katherine Torrance completed the podium (292.47).
As for the 10m synchro, Lu Wei / Zhang Jiaqi were the best with 354.06 points. DPR Korea’s Kim A Rim / Kim Mi Rae (325.80) pocketed the silver medal on offer and Meaghan Benfeito / Caeli McKay (313.14) added another bronze to their country’s tally.
Apart from China – Canada, Great Britain and Russia were the other teams to medal in the mixed events.
