The Swedish Olympic champion and four-time world record holder Sarah Sjöström will be demonstrating her performances to the Luxembourg public at the Euro Meet from 25 to 27 January 2019.
Sarah won her first of a total of 14 European Championship titles (50m pool) on 22nd March 2008 in Eindhoven, in a time of 58.44 seconds over 100m butterfly. Today, the 25-year-old holds the world record in 55.48 – swum at her Olympic victory 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

As the Sprint Queen, she also holds the world records for 50m butterfly (24.43), 50m freestyle (23.67) and 100m freestyle (51.71). The last two were set up at the World Championship 2017 in Budapest.

At Euro Meet 2017 Sarah broke the meet records for all freestyle and butterfly sprints even twice a day, once during the preliminaries and again at the finals. In 2018 she smashed the 100m Butterfly mark again. Also this year the freestyle and butterfly sprints will not lead past the Swedish Sprint Queen.
In the backstroke sprints, Georgia Davies is counting on great chances of winning. Since her European Championship title last year in Glasgow, the 28-year-old girl from Wales held the European record in 50m backstroke in 27.21 seconds.
High tension is guaranteed at the 21st Luxembourg Euro Meet from 25 – 27 January in the Coque.

Die schwedische Olympiasiegerin und vierfache Weltrekordhalterin Sarah Sjöström wird vom 25. bis 27. Januar 2019 beim Euro Meet ihr Können dem Luxemburger Publikum unter Beweis stellen.

Die Schwedin gewann am 22. März 2008 in Eindhoven ihren ersten von insgesamt 14 EM-Titeln auf der 50-Meter-Bahn, damals in einer Zeit von 58,44 Sekunden über 100m Schmetterling. Heute hält die 25-Jährige den Weltrekord in 55,48 – geschwommen bei ihrem Olympiasieg 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

Als Königin der Sprintstrecken hält sie standesgemäß auch die Weltrekorde über 50m Schmetterling (24,43), 50m Freistil (23.67) und 100m Freistil (51.71). Die letzteren beiden aufgestellt bei der Weltmeisterschaft 2017 in Budapest.
Beim Euro Meet 2017 brach Sarah die Meet-Rekorde über alle Freistil und Schmetterlingssprints sogar zweimal am Tag, einmal während der Vorläufe und erneut bei den Finals. 2018 verbesserte sie die Marke über 100m Schmetterling erneut. Auch in diesem Jahr wird über die Freistil- und Delphinsprints kein Weg an der Schwedischen Sprintkönigin vorbeiführen.

Im Rückensprint rechnet sich Georgia Davies große Siegchancen aus. Immerhin hält die 28-jährige Waliserin seit ihrem EM-Titel letzten Jahres in Glasgow den Europarekord über 50m Rücken in 27.21 Sekunden.
