700 swimmers from 27 nations will compete for titles, personal bests and medals at the 21st Euro Meet from Friday to Sunday at the national Aquatic Centre d´Coque. Once again the organizers have managed to bring elite swimmers to Luxembourg. The races of the Olympic Champions Katinka Hosszu from Hungary and Sarah Sjöström from Sweden promise high tension. In the men’s events, the German short course World Record holder Marco Koch will meet the Italian silver medallist from 2011 World Championship, Fabio Scozzoli, and his team mate and junior World Record holder Nicolò Martinenghi. There will be a reunion with the Russian World Record holder Kliment Kolesnikov and the British World and European Champion Benjamin Proud.

A selection of 22 Luxembourg national swimmers, led by Raphael Stacchiotti, Julien Henx, Pit Brandenburger and Monique Olivier, will start. In addition, athletes from Diekirch, Dudelange, Wiltz, Echternach, Differdingen, Ettelbrück, Redange and Swimming Luxembourg will take part.

The Euro Meet is the kick-off of the newly established “LEN Swimming Cup”, a competition series of the European Swimming Federation (Ligue Européenne de Natation). For this occasion, the technical equipment of the meet was once again significantly upgraded. In total, the competition will be broadcasted on four LED screens with 14 cameras in HD quality. The preliminary heats and B-finals will be broadcast live on www.euromeet.lu while the A-finals will be made available to European television stations via the Eurovision network.

At the suggestion of the top athletes the preliminaries will be separated into faster and slower heats and the B-finals will be held en bloc before the A-finals.

Schwimm-Elite zu Gast beim 21 Luxembourg Euro Meet 2019

700 Schwimmer aus 27 Nationen werden von Freitag bis Sonntag bei der 21. Ausgabe des Euro Meet um Titel, Bestzeiten und Medaillen kämpfen. Erneut haben es die Organisatoren geschafft, die Elite des Schwimmsports nach Luxemburg zu holen. Hochspannung versprechen die Rennen der Olympiasiegerinnen Katinka Hosszu aus Ungarn und Sarah Sjöström aus Schweden. Bei den Männern trifft der deutsche Kurzbahn-Weltrekordler Marco Koch auf den Italienischen WMZweiten von 2011, Fabio Scozzoli, und dessen Landsmann und Junioren-Weltrekordler Nicolò Martinenghi. Ein Wiedersehen gibt es mit dem russischen Weltrekordler Kliment Kolesnikov und dem britischen Welt- und Europameister Benjamin Proud.

Aus Luxemburger Sicht wird eine 22-köpfige Landesauswahl, angeführt von Raphael Stacchiotti, Julien Henx, Pit Brandenburger und Monique Olivier, am Start sein. Darüber hinaus sind Athleten der Luxemburger Schwimmvereine aus Diekirch, Dudelange, Wiltz, Echternach, Differdingen, Ettelbrück, Redange und vom Swimming Luxembourg dabei.

Das Euro Meet ist Auftakt der neu etablierten Wettkampfserie „LEN Swimming Cup“ des Europäischen Schwimmverbandes (Ligue Européenne de Natation). Aus diesem Anlass wurde die technische Ausstattung noch einmal deutlich aufgewertet. Insgesamt werden die Wettkämpfe auf vier LED-Leinwänden mit insgesamt 14 Kameras in HD-Qualität übertragen. Die Vorläufe und BFinals werden als Livestream auf www.euromeet.lu übertragen, die A-Finals werden über das Netzwerk der Eurovision den europäischen Fernsehanstalten zur Verfügung gestellt.

Auf Anregung der Top-Athleten werden in diesem Jahr die Vorläufe nach schnellen und langsameren getrennt und die B-Finals werden en block vor den A-Finals ausgetragen.
