Eleven gold medals more for Russia at Dragon Boat European Championships

After four days of racing the 2019 ECA Dragon Boat Nations and Clubs European Championships and European Cup in Moscow has come to an end. Teams and clubs competed in 500 metres 20-seater events and in 10- and 20-seater 2000 metres finals. Russian national team picked up eleven gold medals more on Sunday.
Russian Canoe Federation and local organisers of the 2019 ECA Dragon Boat Nations and Clubs European Championships have prepared a competition on a very high level, and in return they were able to celebrate gold medals in majority of the events, both on national and club level of competition.
On Sunday twelve sets of medals have been awarded in national level of competition and Russia won eleven gold medals. The only other nation that was able to celebrate win today was Hungary who set the best time in women’s master 50+ 10-seater 2000 metres race. Russian crew finished second in this event.
In the morning part of the programme teams competed in 20-seater 500 metres races. Russia won and Hungary finished second in senior women’s event, Russia, Germany and Hungary stood on the podium in masters 40+ mixed event, while Russia, Moldova and Hungary won medals in senior mixed 20-seater 500 metres race.
In the afternoon we have followed the 2000 metres races in 10- and 20-seater boats. Russia won in front of Germany in women’s senior 10-seater, while in masters 40+ 10-seater Russia celebrated a win in front of Hungarian crew.
Russia, Romania and Hungary produced the best times in men’s senior 10-seater boats and in junior 10-seater men’s race it was Russia, Moldova and Germany on the podium. The same teams Russia, Moldova and Germany also picked up medals in women’s junior 10-seater event.
Russia and Germany won gold and silver medals respectively in women’s senior 20-seater boat, while Russia and Hunagry finished the women’s masters 40+ 20-seater in first and second place.
The last set of medals at this year’s championships was awarded in men’s masters 40+ 10- seater 2000 metres race. Russia won another gold medal, Germany was second and Hungary third.
Together with nations competition athletes were also competing for club European Cup titles. Alltogether 28 clubs from four countries were padlding in this part of the competition.
Next ECA Dragon Boat Nations and Clubs European Championships will be organised in 2021 on Jarun Lake in Zagreb, Croatia.
