Canada grabs 6 golds in Beijing’s Artistic Swimming World Series

Canada excelled in Beijing, China, from May 4-6, at the fifth leg of the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series as the team secured six gold medals over the three-day competition.
Canadian sensation Jacqueline Simoneau was the best in the solo events, earning 90.4333 for her technical routine and 88.3893 for her free performance. Serbia’s Nevena Dimitrijevic collected the silver at stake in the technical (78.1000), while Ukraine’s Oleksandra Burdova collected 84.0224 points for silver in the free.
Simoneau also impressed in both the duet events with partner Claudia Holzner as the pair clinched gold with 87.7402 (technical) and 89.8667 points (free) respectively. France, with the sisters Laura and Charlotte Tremble ( 85.6091 and 88.5667) and Ukraine with Oleksandra Burdova / Anna Nosova (83.4550 and 85.3667), pocketed the silver and bronze on offer in the two duet event.
Additionally, the Canadian girls topped the team free with 89.1333, defeating the French (88.2000) and Ukraine (85.9667), while they also impressed in the highlight routine (89.1000) in which France clinched silver (86.9333).
The team technical and the free combination were however won by China with 93.0837 and 28.5000 points respectively. Canada came second (88.000) and France third (86.2652) in the team technical, while Ukraine came second in the free combination (86.2667).
Russia’s famous pair which is composed of World champion Aleksandr Maltsev and Mayya Gurbanberdieva claimed the duet technical and duet free golds; respectively 90.3718 and 92.9667.
Japan’s Yumi Adachi and Atsushi Abe managed to place second in the technical mixed routine (86.6333), in front of Zhang Yayi / Shi Haoyu of China (83.6862) and the Japanese pair was third (88.0000) in the free routine behind Italy’s World champions Giorgio Minisini / Manila Flamini (90.333).
The circuit next stops in the U.S. in Greensboro from May 24–26.
