O Comitê Organizador de Buenos Aires 2018 saudou oficialmente a chegada da chama sagrada na Argentina com um ato que se seguiu à cerimônia de iluminação em Atenas, na Grécia.
A cerimônia de boas-vindas foi realizada no Centro Aquático do Parque Olímpico da Juventude. O local abrigará as competições de natação, mergulho e pentatlo moderno nos Jogos.
Gerardo Werthein, presidente do Comitê Organizador de Buenos Aires 2018, e Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, prefeito da cidade de Buenos Aires, participaram do ato, além de outras autoridades, conhecidos atletas olímpicos e jovens atletas argentinos que se preparam para os Jogos Olímpicos da Juventude. .

“Queremos que isso seja a tocha da paz e união de todas as pessoas através de nossa cidade”, disse Gerardo Werthein, presidente do Comitê Organizador de Buenos Aires, em 2018.
O ato teve um momento inesquecível quando o fogo sagrado foi entregue entre lendas esportivas argentinas e jovens atletas que competirão em Buenos Aires 2018.
Juan Curuchet, campeão olímpico de ciclismo em Pequim 2008, deu início ao revezamento. Sol Ordas, um jovem remador argentino que representará seu país em Buenos Aires em 2018, pegou a tocha. O terceiro corredor de revezamento foi Dante Cittadini, um argentino Nacra 15 estrela que também estará competindo nos Jogos.
Sebastián Crismanich, medalha de ouro no taekwondo em Londres 2012, foi o atleta que levou a chama pelo trecho mais longo do Centro Aquático. Ele passou a chama para Victoria Saputo, campeã de boxe da Pan American Youth. No último segmento do revezamento, a tocha foi carregada por Teresa Romairone, parceira Nacra 15 da Cittadini para Buenos Aires 2018.

Em 5 de agosto, começará o Tour da Tocha. A chama olímpica da juventude percorrerá 17 cidades, cobrindo 14.000 quilômetros, destacando a diversidade cultural e geográfica da Argentina.

Juventude (YOG) é um evento multi-esportivo internacional para jovens atletas entre 15 e 18 anos com uma natureza educativa e cultural que visa promover os valores olímpicos na juventude.

O evento, que acontece a cada quatro anos (em suas duas versões, inverno e verão, que alternam a cada dois anos), é promovido pelo Comitê Olímpico Internacional (COI). Os Jogos Olímpicos da Juventude de Buenos Aires 2018 serão realizados de 6 a 18 de outubro com a participação de 4.000 atletas de 206 países.

Youth Olympic flame tours Aquatic Centre in historic relay

Buenos Aires, July 26. The Buenos Aires 2018 Organising Committee officially welcomed the arrival of the sacred flame in Argentina with an act that followed the lighting ceremony in Athens, Greece.
The welcome ceremony was held in the Aquatic Centre in the Youth Olympic Park. The site will be home to swimming, diving, and modern pentathlon competitions at the Games.
Gerardo Werthein, president of the Buenos Aires 2018 Organising Committee, and Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, mayor of the city of Buenos Aires, both attended the act, in addition to other officials, well-known Argentine Olympians and young athletes preparing for the Youth Olympic Games.

“We want this to be the torch of peace and union of all people through our city”, said Gerardo Werthein, president of the Buenos Aires 2018 Organising Committee.
The act had an unforgettable moment when the sacred fire was handed between Argentine sport legends and young athletes who will compete at Buenos Aires 2018.
Juan Curuchet, an Olympic cycling champion at Beijing 2008, kicked off the relay. Sol Ordas, a young Argentine rower who will represent her country at Buenos Aires 2018 then took the torch. The third relay runner was Dante Cittadini, an Argentine Nacra 15 star who will also be competing at the Games.
Sebastián Crismanich, gold medallist in taekwondo at London 2012, was the athlete who carried the flame for the longest stretch within the Aquatic Centre. He passed on the flame to Victoria Saputo, a Pan American Youth boxing champion. In the last segment of the relay the torch was carried by Teresa Romairone, Cittadini’s Nacra 15 partner for Buenos Aires 2018.

On August 5 the Torch Tour will begin. The youth Olympic flame will travel through 17 cities, covering 14,000 kilometres while highlighting Argentina’s cultural and geographical diversity.
